Jeff Hart - Chairman of the Board
A proven entrepreneur, Jeff has more than 17 years of business experience in the petroleum industry in operations, marketing, finance, and applied technology. Jeff began his career with the management development program of Enterprise Rent-A-Car. From there, he founded his first business, Oilspot.com, Inc., in 1998, raising $5 million in venture capital to expand the business and launch one of the first successful e-commerce products for the lubricant industry. Oilspot.com grew rapidly and in less than three years, developed a customer base of more than 50 lubricant manufacturing and distribution companies before its acquisition in 2000 by FuelQuest Inc, where Jeff served for three years as Vice President of Business Strategy. Since 2003 he has served as president of Mid-Town Petroleum, a lubricants only company started in 1955 by Jeff's father-in-law. During Jeff's tenure, the company became one of the largest lubricant distributors in the Midwest, growing from $4 million in sales to $40 million and from 7 employees to 60. In 2010, Mid-Town Petroleum joined RelaDyne to create one of the nation’s largest lubrication distribution businesses focused on driving reliability and profitability within their customer base. Currently, Jeff leads RelaDyne's strategic market expansion and product partnerships. Drawing on his relationships with industry-leading lubrication-related businesses in diverse market segments, Jeff is building new partnerships for RelaDyne that spur the company's growth and expand its geographic reach—while broadening its offering of products and services to create greater customer value.
Jeff is an active board member of the Chevron Texaco Petroleum Marketers Association, the Chevron Marketer Council, and the Chicagoland Chapter of the Young Presidents' Organization. He received a Bachelor of Science in economics from the University of Iowa.
Douglas Haugh - Board Member
Doug has worked in the energy and technology industries for the past 22 years. A chemical engineer by trade, Doug began his career in the industry with Exxon in various marketing and business development positions. Doug went on to co-found what has become the most successful software and services company in the downstream fuel industry, FuelQuest Inc. Based on the company's success Doug and his co-founder Rich Cilento were awarded Ernst & Young's prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year award for Energy Technology in 2006.
Doug currently serves as the President of Mansfield Oil Company, a nationwide provider of fuel supply, distribution, and logistics services. With over $8 billion in sales in 2013 Mansfield was ranked by Forbes as the 41st largest private company in America.
Paul Woolard - Board Member
Paul Woolard is director, Commercial Development, at Archer Daniels Midland Company. In that role, he is responsible for developing and commercializing bio-based technologies and repurposing large-scale fermentation assets. Woolard joined ADM in 2009 and most recently served as director, Planning and M&A. As such, he was responsible for corporate business development, annual planning and coordinating merger and acquisition activities for the company. Prior to joining ADM, Woolard spent 10 years with Tate & Lyle in a series of business development and finance roles. Earlier in his career, Woolard held finance leadership roles in the retail food, energy, and public accounting industries.
Woolard holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. He holds the professional designations of CPA, CGMA, and CertICM. He is a member of the President’s Council at Harding University, and of the Greater Decatur YMCA Board of Directors.
Robert J. Bond - Board Member
Robert J. Bond, co-founder and president of Bond Companies, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison holding a Master of Science in Real Estate Investment Analysis and Appraisal Theory with a concentration in Finance. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Economics. Mr. Bond oversees Bond Companies' development pipeline. As a thought leader, he has appeared in The Wall Street Journal and Investor Business Daily, as well as several industry periodicals discussing mixed-use development and the retail marketplace. His philosophy focuses on downside yield protection through the effective use of risk management. As a frequent speaker on the development process, Mr. Bond guest lectures at the University of Wisconsin and has presented to the London School of Economics. He has spoken at several industry conferences including the Urban Land Institute, the International Council of Shopping Centers, Bisnow, the Big Ten Real Estate Forum, and Young Real Estate Professionals, among others. He is an active participant in several professional and trade organizations, including the Urban Land Institute (UDMUC Red Council) and the International Council of Shopping Centers. He is also a member of the Young Presidents Organization (former chapter chair and founder, Chicagoland Chapter), a member of the Metropolitan Planning Council, a former member of the Board of Trustees for the Wisconsin Center for Real Estate and a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and the City Club of Chicago. Mr. Bond is the former chair for real estate acquisition and dispositions for the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago, and a National Council Member of The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
Robert's personal contribution to his community includes helping at-risk youth make a positive difference as a role model in his ongoing relationship with Chicago's Principal for a Day program. He also acts as a volunteer youth coach and participates in the City of Chicago's Real Men Read Program, and is an active mentor and senior thesis advisor at North Lawndale College Prep School.
Sam Burkett - Board Member; President, BioBlend
Sam has led BioBlend for the past eight years as President. Sam has over 22 years in the energy industry, including 13 years with ExxonMobil, including running their Industrial Lubricants business in the US. Negotiated and implemented North American Integrated Supply Agreements with United Technologies and Honeywell among others as well as running the Industrial Oil and Grease product lines at Exxon. At Vertex Green Energy Sam led the overall development program for Vertex Green Energy in Biodiesel. Vertex's first plant produced Biodiesel in late 2006 and was sold to Earth Biofuels. Sam completed the business plan for two additional Biodiesel plants and a BioChemical plant and established a consulting division specializing in renewable energy and performed initial plant feasibility studies for other companies. As Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Panda Ethanol Sam completed Panda's sales and marketing plan for ethanol sales in the US Market through a network of multiple 100 Million Gallon per year ethanol plants.
Sam holds a Nuclear Engineering degree from West Point and is a Licensed Professional Engineer.
Bill Smith - Board Member; Vice President Finance & Operations, BioBlend
Bill has 22 years of executive management and finance experience in a range of industries: petroleum distribution, banking, consumer products, and hospitality. At BioBlend, Bill is focused on the day to day operations, strategic market expansion, as well as initiatives with international partners. Before joining BioBlend in 2007, Bill was GM/COO of Mid-Town Petroleum, helping to lead the company into becoming one of the largest lubricant distributors in the Midwest. From 2002-2005, Bill was President of Motherboard Enterprises, creating a unique product line utilizing recycled technology. Bill sold this company in 2005. In 2000, as Director of Finance for Oilspot.com, Bill helped lead the the strategic discussions culminating in the merger with FuelQuest, Inc. later that same year. Bill began his career at American National Bank & Trust in Chicago.
Bill holds a BBA in Finance from The University of Iowa and an MBA from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business.
Peter Haines - Vice President Business Development, BioBlend
Peter brings 30 years of experience from a variety of executive management, global strategy, and technical sales positions. At BioBlend, Peter is focused on strategic initiatives with OEM's, distributors, and the marine industry. Before joining BioBlend in 2014, Peter was VP-Technical Sales Group for Amsoil, a leading supplier of synthetic oils and greases to the automotive industry. From 1985-2001, Peter was with Lubrication Engineers, a manufacturer of industrial lubricants and greases. Peter's tenure with LE culminated as Vice President and General Manager from 1996-2001.
Peter holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from The University of North Dakota.
